We have gathered some frequently asked questions we received over the last couple of months, that you may also be interested to read about.

 

Using TabTill offline

 

TabTill's cloud based autosync system will never stop you doing business when you are offline.

When TabTill is in constant use by your cashier(s), certain information is not immediately shared with our cloud server in order to speed up the app's processing time, allowing you to deal with more customers and offer a faster service to them. When TabTill is left idle for more than 45 seconds, it automatically logs the currently logged in cashier out. Once logged out, TabTill will quitely sync the remaining data with the cloud to update all your recent transactions.

If you use TabTill without any internet connection, the processed transactions in the meantime will be synced once you are back online by allowing TabTill to log you out as a cashier (or doing it manually from the top app bar), give it 15 seconds idle time and the app will update your back office figures in no time. You can also set how long TabTill should be idle before it logs you out, by default it is 45 seconds. You can always set it shorter or longer.

 

Forgot my PIN for logging into the app

 

Just tap on help on the login page from the top app bar and enter your email address. TabTill will send you a PIN reminder over email.

 

How do I switch between cashiers during a sale?

 

You can always log out manually after each transaction if you wish. Just tap on 'Logout' from the top appbar, this will return TabTill to the login page. In case you've left some products in your basket before processing a sale, these will be remembered for when you login next time.

 

How can I add more cashiers?

 

If you go to 'Settings' (accessible from the bottom app bar) and tap on 'Manage cashiers', you can add unlimited number of them. You will also be able to choose whether they are classified as Manager, Supervisor or Trainee. These three roles come with either unlimited or limited rights, i.e. the Trainee can't open the cash drawer unless he/she makes a sale, can't view your financial reports either. These rights are described in detail on the same page when you change their authority.

When you add a new cashier, just type in their name, email address (they can request a PIN reminder over email on the login page by tapping on 'Help' from the bottom app bar) and the system will generate a random PIN. This can be changed to a more memorable one by the cashier after they log in and go to 'Settings' -> 'Change PIN'.

 

I forgot my login details for my back office

 

Visit the Password reminder page, and enter your email address and you will receive your most recently updated paswword over email.

 

Ok, I have 200 free transactions with the free version. Is there a time limit with the app as well?

 

There is no time limit with the free version of TabTill, if it takes a year or more for you to process 200 transactions, that is absolutely fine with us.

 

What is a Z-list?

 

Z-list is a summary of your daily sales shown per payment methods, i.e. you can reconcile how much cash you've taken on the day with how much excess you have in your cash drawer, your card takings against your PDQ totals, PayPal receipts as well coupons and gift cards accepted. It is advisable to print a Z-list before ending your shift or at closing time.

 

Can I use the tab system for checking in and out hotel rooms?

 

Absolutely, you can assign room rates and consumption of services (or any extras) to your tabs. You can also name your tabs as your individual guests or room numbers. Just tap and hold the particular tab (or tap on 'Rename tab' from the bottom app bar) to assign a room number or guest name to your tab.

 

How can I use a barcode scanner with TabTill?

 

You can either use a USB based or a bluetooth barcode scanner with TabTill. Whenever you scan a product, it will add one of them to your basket. If this is a new product you have not sold before and wish to add it to your product catalogue for future sales, TabTill will retrieve any product information we may have about the product, so you would only need to enter your retail price, set the quantity you now have in stock.

 

How do I issue a refund?

 

Just add the product(s) to your basket your customer is returning to you, choose 'Refund' from the bottom app bar and check out using the same (or else) payment method your customer used when they purchased the item(s). This way you can issue a refund receipt as well as balancing the stocks of the returned item(s).

PayPal in store mobile payments

You can now accept payments via PayPal in your store. Any of your customers with an Android or iOS phone can use their PayPal app to check in your store and make payments simply and easily, allowing you to process your sales faster and more securely.

When your customer is ready to pay, their PayPal profile picture will appear on TabTill's screen, making it a seamless and more personal transaction between you and your customer. Just confirm their name, the amount to pay and tap on the 'Take Payment' button. That is it, and your funds will appear on your account in seconds. more info
